Class Presentations

School Resource Officer (SRO) duties include class presentations about a wide range of topics, including: 

  • Anti-drug and alcohol programs
  • Bullying
  • Date rape
  • Domestic violence
  • Driving under the influence (DUI)
  • Goal setting
  • Hate crimes
  • Juvenile law
  • Peer pressure
  • Rohypnol-Rivotril
  • Safety issues
  • Search and seizure
  • Sexual harassment
  • Shoplifting, theft, and burglary
  • Smoking
  • Suicide prevention
  • Truancy

Coordination with Schools & Other Organizations

SROs also coordinate with juvenile probation and gang units with Stockton Police Department, San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office, and Lodi Police Department.

They also initiate the G.R.E.A.T. Program via the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and participate in the S.P.I.R.I.T. Program at Tokay High School and Challenge Day at Lodi High.

These officers also assist the schools in truancy identification and reduction, formulate crime prevention tactics on school grounds, and enforce state, local, and school laws and policies.

Other Duties

Other duties include:

  • Attending parent/faculty group meetings
  • Coaching school sports
  • Providing counseling for students and staff on law-related issues
